Thornbury 2002 Sauvignon Blanc

This wine was love at first taste. There are many fine examples of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and Thornbury's current entry is top rank. If you want to dazzle your guests with a terrific SB, this will do the job. The company is located in the Bay of Plenty area with connections for winemaking in Hawke's Bay and Marlborough.

I must admit that I am at a loss to give specific tasting references. Grapefruit or gooseberry; who cares? The nose was very appealing, light fruit and floral; enticing you to taste. The promise on the nose did not disappoint on the palatte. The wine was wonerfully integrated with lots of smooth bright fruit flavors, through the mid-palette with no rough edges or loss of intensity and a clean finish with just the right acidity to start again. This wine can be found at US$13, a great bargain. I'm going to re-stock while supplies last.
