You've probably seen the drawing of a series of fish, each progressively larger, ready to swallow the smaller fish in from them. Here's the vinous equivalent. The Soneleigh Vineyard in Marlborough was bought by Corbans. Corbans, number 2 in size, was bought by Montana, number one in size, and finally Montana was bought by Allied-Domecq, a European multi-national beverage and whatever empire. Stoneleigh shares Jacksons Road in the center of Marlborough with the likes of Cloudy Bay, Allan Scott Wines, Cairnbrae, and Jackson Estate. It is also a few miles away from its big brother, the huge Montana Brancott complex south of Blenheim.
